Pumpkin Shortbread

1/2 C butter

1 C flour

1/3 C sugar

1/4 teaspoon of vanilla

1/3 C flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 C packed brown sugar

1 C canned solid pack pumpkin

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs

1/2 C walnuts

1 C flour

1/3 C sugar

1/4 C butter

Mix 1/2 C butter, 1/3 C sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla and 1 C flour until well mixed. Place in 9 x 13 inch pan and bake for 10 minutes at 400° When completed, allow to cool and reduce oven to 350°

Add eggs, pumpkin, brown sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and walnuts until pumpkin is smooth. Stir together baking powder, salt and 1/3 C flour mixture. Add to mixture above. Place on top of baked mixture.

Add 1 C flour, 1/4 C butter and 1/4 C sugar to the top of pumpkin mixture and bake for 30 minutes or until pumpkin when inserted with a tooth pick comes out clean. Cool before serving.
